The Alliance adds NOVO Health to its provider network to expand employers’ health benefit options for select outpatient surgeries
Appleton, WI – The Alliance, an independent employer-owned cooperative of more than 240 self-funded employers, has contracted with NOVO Health, the Appleton-based healthcare organization representing independent provider groups.
This new contract expands self-funded employers’ access to high-quality medical providers that have agreed to bundle their pricing for select outpatient surgeries and related procedures. Bundled pricing means there is a single bill for an entire episode of care with a price point known up front.
Additionally, Alliance members choosing NOVO Health for healthcare services receive a limited warranty and can choose whether to cover transportation, lodging and other expenses as part of a “travel bundle.”
“Adding NOVO Health to our network provides more options for self-funded employers to manage the cost of employee health care,” said Kyle Monroe, vice president of network development and provider relations for The Alliance.
The Alliance pools together employers’ healthcare plans to contract directly with physicians and facilities to get lower prices and receive a higher level of care. Its members include more than 240 businesses, school districts, municipalities, and insurance trusts that provide coverage to over 85,000 individuals in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa.
NOVO Health’s approach to healthcare delivery, with independent specialists joining together to price bundle services and contract with employers, dovetails with The Alliance’s desire to move healthcare forward by improving quality and controlling costs.
“NOVO providers are known for the exceptional patient experience each delivers,” said Curt Kubiak, NOVO Health Chief Executive Officer. “And the price bundling of a multitude of procedures and services offers transparency and cost containment opportunities that employers find attractive.”
Employers who wanted more control over escalating health benefit costs founded The Alliance cooperative in 1990. The Alliance provides the network and resources that make it possible for companies to self-fund their healthcare benefit programs. Benefits of self-funding include increased financial control and lower operating costs.
“Self-funded employers are looking for ways to contain costs to benefit their employees and communities,” said Kubiak. “The Alliance is a leader in creating better healthcare value for organizations, and NOVO’s price bundling and direct contracting services will enhance Alliance members’ ability to manage their healthcare dollars.”
